St. Augustine, Florida

Oceanside…
  1. Starting at the RW "STA"  MO ("A") buoy from Offshore, you will find the buoys change position often because of the shifting shoals.

  2. This is not an Inlet to do on a nasty day if this is your first time running it. Once in. navigation is easier, but of course keep your eyes open. A Chartplotter really helps, along with Radar.

I had to run the Inlet for the First time from Offshore to get fuel. The Tide and Current were slack, the wind about 10 knts SE and I found the Inlet easy to run. My Radar picked up the Buoys as I ran in from the MO ("A") buoy. It was a very scenic area. I was heading around the inside of Conch Island turning south at the G "1" buoy to get to Conch House Marina. It was an easy in to the Fuel Dock. On my return to the Ocean, the Inlet had gotten nasty...The Tide was going out and the wind piped up to 18 - 20 knts from the ESE coming in. The waves were considerable (short & steep) as they engulfed my bow. Once east and out of the Inlet, all was fine... but here within a couple of hours shows how things can quickly change.

The Town of St. Augustine is wonderful, and there is a lot of History here. There is a Town Walk where no cars are allowed.Enjoy!
